Rhinoplasty for Men

A rhinoplasty is used to correct cosmetic deformities or functional hindrances of the nose. Many men and women who choose to receive a rhinoplasty do so for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Enhancing the appearance of the nose
  • Correcting and reconstructing the nose
  • Improving breathing (functional rhinoplasty)

This surgery may improve a variety of contour abnormalities such as:

  • Crooked or off-center
  • Hump on the bridge
  • A wide base
  • A droopy or bulbous tip
  • Flared nostrils

A rhinoplasty may use septum, ear or rib cartilage in secondary or reconstructive surgery.

Who is a good candidate for Rhinoplasty?People who are unhappy the appearance of their nose and feel it may be out of proportion with the rest of their face. You may be unhappy with your shape, size, or angle of your nose. Trauma may have caused you misshaped nose. Finally, some people may have difficulty breathing or nasal congestion/ blockage
Where are the incisions?The incisions are usually on the inside of the nose however, a small incision may be necessary underneath your nose between your nostrils.
What can I expect from the recovery?Most patient will have a nasal splint or packing for about a week after surgery. The bruising and swelling will resolve in the first several weeks with patients returning to everyday activities. Fully recovery and return to strenuous activity can take up to 6 weeks. Your nose will continue to heal for the first year.
