A KYBELLA® injection is the first and only FDA-approved prescription nonsurgical treatment that is for adults and improves the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin, which is called submental fat, and also called, “double chin.”
There’s finally an effective, nonsurgical solution to your stubborn fat under the chin. With Kybella®, you can improve your submental fullness to achieve a more defined chin and jawline, all without incisions or downtime. Ask Dr. DiFrancesco if Kybella® is right for you.
Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription nonsurgical treatment for the appearance of a “double chin,” also known as submental fullness. The formula is composed of synthetic deoxycholic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and aids in the breakdown of fat. When placed under the chin, Kybella® destroys fat cells, resulting in reduced fullness.
During your treatment with Dr. DiFrancesco in our Atlanta med spa, your chin will be numbed with a topical anesthetic. The formula will then be placed in several points under the chin. This process will only take about 10-20 minutes to complete. While one treatment might be enough for some patients, multiple sessions are typically required for optimal results.
If you are over the age of 18 and are bothered by stubborn fat under your chin, Kybella® might be right for you. Stubborn fat can accumulate here due to age, weight gain, or genetic factors. For the best results, you should be within your ideal weight range before considering Kybella®. Stubborn fat under the chin can be especially difficult to treat with exercise alone, so if you still suffer from a double chin despite diet and exercise, talk with Dr. DiFrancesco about Kybella®.

While there is no required downtime after treatment with Kybella®, you might experience some swelling, numbness, and bruising at the injection sites. This should diminish over the next several days. You should avoid strenuous activity during this time to avoid excess swelling. The results of Kybella® are not instant, as your body needs time to break down and eliminate the treated fat cells.
After optimal treatment sessions, you can enjoy a noticeable reduction in fat under the chin that is long-lasting. The destroyed fat cells cannot return, but your untreated fat cells can still expand with future weight gain. To ensure lasting success from your Kybella® treatment, make sure you maintain a healthy weight through proper diet and exercise.

How much does Kybella cost?
The cost of your Kybella treatment will depend on how much of the formula is needed and how many treatment sessions are required. Dr. DiFrancesco will be able to give you an estimated price for your full Kybella treatment during your consultation in Atlanta.
How long does Kybella take to work?
The results of Kybella take some time to become noticeable so it is important to be patient. This is due to the way the body naturally eliminates the destroyed fat cells. Each patient’s result times will vary, but you can expect to begin seeing results in about 4-6 weeks. The best results will be seen after optimal sessions have been completed.
How does Kybella compare to liposuction under the chin?
Kybella is a great solution for you if you are bothered by mild to moderate stubborn fat under the chin, and want to avoid the incisions and downtime that come with a surgical procedure. Liposuction might be a better solution for you if you experience a larger amount of stubborn fat under the chin, or are considering another surgical procedure like the neck lift. Dr. DiFrancesco will examine your chin and determine which treatment is best for you.
