Choosing the Right Injectable for You

As we age, the volume in our face starts to diminish and wrinkles begin to form. This is completely natural to the aging process, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t do anything about it. Fillers and injectables are designed to replace that loss of volume and you a fresher, younger looking complexion.

There are a range of different injectables that target specific areas of the face. Your cosmetic surgeon will choose which treatment is right for you, but it’s important to do some of your own research beforehand to help you understand the process and know where your expectations lie.

How Do Injectables Work?

Fillers, also known as injectables, are designed to restore evenness to the skin. They help to reduce wrinkles, restore volume, and improve the overall symmetry of the face. The substances in each filler differ depending on the area and problem that is being fixed. Some contain collagen or stimulate collagen production, which helps smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. Other treatments use fat injections, which is a more extensive procedure than the typical dermal fillers.

Which Treatment is Right for Me?

There are many different types of fillers out there. Which one is right for you depends on multiple factors, such as what area of the face you want altered and the type of change you want to see. To help you understand more about what your options are, here is a list of specific fillers and how they are commonly used.

Botox

Botox is the most commonly known form of injectable treatments. It is often used to smooth out crow’s feet, frown lines, and brow furrows. By temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, it relaxes and smooths lines and wrinkles. This process is quick, and only takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm is also quite common and can be used to treat a wide variety of skin and face related issues. There are different variations of Juvéderm that target specific problems. Generally, it can be used to plump lips, smooth chin wrinkles or under the eyes, and even fill acne scars.
