Infini™ RF Microneedling

For many patients, signs of aging are synonymous with facial plastic surgery. Although this might once have been the case, there are more non-surgical alternatives than ever to combat aging before it even sets in. One effective option that offers a handful of benefits is RF microneedling.

What is RF Microneedling?

Microneedling is a nonsurgical treatment technique that uses tiny needles to generate micro-wounds in the skin using a stamping or dermarolling handpiece. This process jumpstarts the skin’s natural wound healing processes and generates new collagen. Infini™ RF (radio-frequency) microneedling takes this one step further by administering radio-frequency waves within the deep layers of the skin to cause collagen contraction by generating gentle heat. Over time, this process can firm and tighten the skin while boosting cell turnover and reducing the appearance of many different skin concerns.

Candidates for RF Microneedling

Patients who benefit most from RF microneedling are those who are looking for effective, non-surgical options to tighten skin and rejuvenate surface concerns. This treatment can be used on many different areas of the face and body where aging signs and skin laxity are common, like the jawline, chest and décolleté, upper arms, and midface. During a consultation, Dr. DiFrancesco and our skincare experts can create the ideal treatment package for you and your cosmetic goals.

RF Microneedling Procedure

This procedure can be performed with the use of a topical anesthetic so that you’re comfortable and relaxed. The specialized handpiece is carefully applied to your treatment area so that it can create tiny channels in the skin and access the deep layers for targeted RF treatment. Afterward, serums with active ingredients can be applied to further address your concerns. Then, you can return home.

RF Microneedling Results and Maintenance

RF microneedling works best as a series of treatments to fully address your skin concerns. However, you can return for maintenance treatments as needed. You can expect to see your full results emerge at around two months after treatment, but you’ll see noticeable improvement in your skin’s quality after one or two weeks. There’s no downtime required with this treatment, so you can return to your regular schedule immediately. It’s extremely important to avoid direct sunlight, so be sure to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen for the first few days after treatment. Our skincare experts can recommend the right physician-grade products to use at home to maintain your results, as well as additional treatments to augment your new look.

What is microneedling?

It’s a procedure involving a device with extremely fine needles that produces very tiny punctures in the skin. This triggers the body to fill these microscopically small punctures by producing new collagen and elastin, which are natural proteins that keep skin elastic, plump and youthful.

Does microneedling hurt?

These controlled punctures are extremely small and any discomfort is minimal and can be reduced with some topical numbing cream. Microneedling is performed in the office and there is no down time after a treatment. If any redness occurs immediately after microneedling, it usually subsides by the next day.

How does microneedling work?

A micro-needling device creates extremely tiny wounds. The body reacts by producing new collagen, elastin and capillaries in the skin – resulting in rejuvenated, firmer skin with improved texture and fewer wrinkles.

What are the benefits?

In addition to helping firm facial contours, microneedling may improve skin texture and firmness and reduce wrinkles and pore size. We are using it in conjunction with cosmetic surgical procedures to reduce scarring and improve outcomes, too. It is cost-effective, and can be used to improve skin on areas that may not be suitable for peeling or laser resurfacing, such as around the eyes and mouth, hands, and chest.

How much downtime is there after the procedure?

There’s no anesthesia used and virtually no downtime. Your face may look pink and slightly puffy immediately after micro-needling – icing for a few hours will help.

Are there topical products that really improve the skin?

Yes. Studies have shown NEOVA DNA Total Repair products successfully target and repair damage to DNA in skin cells, rejuvenating skin. It’s important to be assessed by a doctor familiar with these anti-aging treatments to find the NEOVA products best for your skin’s needs.

How does the microneedling procedure work? What areas of my skin can it improve?

Microneedling is a minimal invasive procedure that initiates your body’s natural healing response to activate cellular regeneration and collagen production. The micro channels produced during the procedure allow anti-aging serums or skin lighteners to penetrate deeper into the skin then with topical application. It targets fine lines, acne scars and even stretch marks to create a tighter, smoother and more youthful appearance to your skin.

Is the procedure painful?

Patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure which is relieved by using a topical anesthetic.

How long does the procedure take and how many sessions do you need?

Microneedling is appropriate for all ages and skin types without the downtime of lasers or surgery. Results may be seen after one treatment however, often patients complete a series of 3 to 5 treatments of 60 minutes to maximize their results.

What is the downtime? Can I do this on my lunch hour then go back to work?

This is a noninvasive procedure applied topically. Patient may resume work and exercise the same day, if they so wish.
