Plastic Surgery Trends of 2020
Plastic surgery has tended to grow in popularity over the past decade, but trends in both the procedures that are most common and the aesthetic goals of most patients tend to come and go just like fashion trends do. In 2020, several new and continuing trends are predicted among patients throughout the US. One of the most common trends, however, is that nonsurgical procedures are expected to grow in popularity as technology advances.
Here are four plastic surgery trends we’re predicting for 2020.
Nonsurgical Body Contouring
In the past, patients were limited to surgical procedures like liposuction for body contouring. While liposuction remains popular, nonsurgical treatments are expected to be on the rise.
Dr. DiFrancesco offers SculpSure®, a minimally invasive procedure that reduces stubborn areas of fat throughout the body. This treatment works by targeting laser energy to essentially melt unwanted fat cells, which are then naturally removed by the body. The result is a firmer, more toned look.
Enhancing the Jawline and Chin with Filler
Dermal fillers, like Juvéderm®, have exploded in popularity in recent years. They’re often used to enhance the lips, adding subtle volume and softness, or fill in wrinkles through the mid face and around the mouth. However, 2020 will see an increasing number of patients using dermal fillers to enhance the jawline and chin.
Because people are growing more aware of how their face looks from all angles because we’re on camera more than ever, many patients are starting to seek enhancements to their jawline or create a more prominent chin. Some doctors have used calcium hydroxylapatite-based fillers like Radiesse® to achieve this.
Using Botox® to Prevent Wrinkles
Botox® has been the most popular injectable for years. This is expected to continue, but with younger patients choosing the product to prevent wrinkles. Botox® isn’t usually necessary for those in their early or mid-twenties, but patients who are starting to see faint lines forming on their foreheads or between their eyebrows are becoming more likely to seek Botox® to prevent these lines from getting deeper.
Removing or Replacing Breast Implants
While some are predicting the end of breast augmentation altogether, it’s more likely that trends will shift to a more natural or subtle shape and size. Many patients are choosing to have their existing breast implants exchanged for smaller sizes or removed altogether. This can be for a variety of reasons, ranging from changing aesthetic preferences to larger breasts interfering with exercise routines.
